THE BUZZ: Infinity Ward’s Creative Strategist, Robert Bowling, has revealed the official release date of the first Modern Warfare 3 DLC for PlayStation 3.

Premium Elite members on Sony’s console will get access to the Liberation and Piazza maps on February 28, more than a month after Xbox 360 owners.

“Modern Warfare 3 players on Playstation with Elite Premium will receive the new maps Liberation & Piazza on Feb 28th,” he said on Twitter.

EGM’s TAKE: PlayStation 3 owners are not going to be happy about this one, but it’s become the norm with Microsoft having timed exclusivity for DLC. The main problem is with the introduction of Call of Duty: Elite normal users are worse off than they ever have been. Before PC or PS3 users you knew they had a month’s wait for Call of Duty DLC. Now with Elite, it’s even longer and still no release date has been offered for non-subscribing members. It appears that if you want to get ahead your going to have to subscribe to Call of Duty: Elite after all. Activision always promised that Call of Duty would never become a subscription based game and it hasn’t, as long as you don’t mind being treated like second-class players to those who do subscribe.
