Activision is holding a free weekend via the service for anyone who doesn’t own the game. All you have to do is download the multiplayer component of the game and you can play it fully from now until Monday. After which it will lock you back out and demand cash for you to continue.
EGM’s TAKE: It’s almost like offering drugs, you get a little taste for free until you’re addicted and then Activision demands money for you to get a fix after. The again there’s probably only a modest percent of Steam users who don’t already own the game on one platform or another already. So this is just the publisher trying to rope in those last few who resisted the urge to join the phenomena. It’s free, so even if you’ve never played it you may as well give it a shot and see what all the fuss is about.
Activision recently released gameplay footage of the game’s next content drop, Overwatch.
