Modern Warfare 3 Patch 1.08 Details and Hotfixes

THE BUZZ: Robert Bowling, Creative Strategist at Infinity Ward, has detailed what was included in the recently released Patch 1.08 for Modern Warfare 3.
Shotguns
“Nerfed the Striker a little bit, buffed the rest of the shotguns.” To do so they “reduced the amount of pellets it used. So, right now, all the shotguns should be 9 pellets and the striker’s 6 pellets.”
Akimbos
“We also nerfed Akimbos across the boards. So, not just FMG9′s but Akimbos across the board should have a lower fire-rate now.”
General
Added “more tweaks to lag compensation, or host advantage.” It “should be better when you’re host, if you have a fast connection.” A number of bug fixes were also implemented.
Theater
“A ton of theater improvements and fixes. So, if anybody was having trouble viewing their clips, or getting error 7 or getting the black screen stuff – all of that stuff should be gone.” Bowling added that ”YouTube uploads should be 100 times faster than they were when we launched now.”
A hotfix was also released and players should “expect a 50% decrease to the fire rate of all Akimbo weapons in MW3.”
EGM’s TAKE: Infinity Ward really went crazy with balance tweaks with this patch. The fix that will excite and annoy most players is the nerf to Akimbos, especially if the fire rate has been reduced 50 percent, since it may make them no longer viable to players. The Striker has also been brought in line with other shotguns so players wont feel as obliged to always run with the Striker when they want to use a shotgun. The team is constantly balancing and improving the game based on fan feedback, if you think something is over or under powered then let the team now, if enough people feel the same way expect it to changed.
