Call of Duty

A new Twitter tease gives further credence to the rumor that the next Call of Duty installment will continue the Modern Warfare subseries.

Ashton Williams, senior communications manager for Modern Warfare-developer Infinity Ward, recently posted a curious GIF to her Twitter account, depicting a skull with glowing eyes and a static effect layered over it. While the Modern Warfare association may not be immediately apparent to some, others may pick up on the image’s connection to one fan-favorite Modern Warfare 2 character, Ghost.

Now, a more reasonable conclusion would admittedly be that this is a tease for a sequel to Ghosts, the Call of Duty installment Infinity Ward developed after Modern Warfare 3, but while the imagery could apply to either, there are other reasons to suspect Modern Warfare 4 is coming. Multiple reports from mid-2018 claim Modern Warfare 4 will be 2019’s Call of Duty installment, expected to feature a full single-player campaign, Zombies survival mode, and possibly even a battle royale mode.
