Mojang will be expanding the control that players have over the world that they create in Minecraft with a new set of customization options.
“There are 16 sliders which can be used to affect various aspects of Minecraft‘s terrain generator, but you can also type in values directly,” the developer explains. “You also have complete control over things like the sea level and what structures you want to generate.”
If you feel a little intimidated by all those sliders, don’t worry, because Mojang will also supply a set of seven preset worlds. These worlds also show off what is possible with the new customization options. The presets include “a world made of water up to the top of the map, and the return of floating islands.”
Update 1.8 is set to go live in May and will also add new items (Diorite, Andesite, Granite), Slime Blocks, Barriers, iron trapdoors, and a new mob called Endermite—similar to Silverfish.
