Capcom has announced that Monster Hunter: World‘s first expansion, Iceborne, will be released next year.
The expansion will introduce new quests, ranks, locales, monsters, moves, and gear, as well a full narrative experience that continues on from the ending of the base game. More information about the expansion will be revealed in the spring, but for now here’s a debut trailer:
In addition to the expansion, Capcom revealed that it has partnered with CD Projekt Red on a new collaboration event that will see The Witcher III: Wild Hunt’s Geralt coming to the New World. The event offers players new quests that feature “a brand-new type of gameplay that blends the immersive RPG experience of The Witcher 3 with Monster Hunter: World.” This new collaboration event is coming “soon.”
Finally, The Appreciation Fest will take place in January 2019 to celebrate the game’s first anniversary. The event includes a newly decorated Gathering Hub, special equipment that can be obtained in brand new quests, and a number of new anniversary quests.
Monster Hunter: World is available now on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. While the Iceborne expansion is due to release in fall 2019.
