More Than Two Million Copies of Diablo III Pre-Ordered

Diablo III set a pre-order record at Blizzard last night before the game officially launched with more than two million copies pre-ordered.
Over 8000 midnight launch events were held by retailers to mark the game’s release. ”This launch is a culmination of many years of hard work by our development team, and many years of passionate, dedicated support from gamers around the world,” said Blizzard CEO and co-founder Mike Morhaime.
“We’re grateful for the enthusiasm of our players, and for the help of our beta testers in getting the game ready for release. Now that Diablo 3 is live, we hope everyone’s ready to have a hellishly good time slaying demons and collecting loot in Sanctuary.”
However, things have been far from plain sailing over the last few hours. First the servers crumbled under the weight of users trying to log-in and then players discovered a game breaking bug involving the Templar companion. In other news, someone has already managed to complete the game in under 13 hours.
