Mortal Kombat

The age-old tradition of trying to figure out which characters are showing up in a NetherRealm Studios fighting game is in full swing with Mortal Kombat 11, and a list of Steam achievements might have just leaked a ton of unannounced fighters.

MK11‘s SteamDB page recently added an incomplete list of the game’s achievements—or, at least, their file names. Achievements earned by performing fatalities seem to hint at several unannounced characters by using the first three letters of their names.

ResetEra (via VG 24/7) took to decoding the letters that didn’t match previously announced characters’ names, and there are some interesting additions to the roster. Johnny Cage’s daughter Cassie Cage and Jax’s daughter Jacqui both get nods on the achievement list, as do Kotal Kahn, Frost, Jade, Erron Black, Liu Kang, and either Kung Lao or Kung Jin. However, this doesn’t appear to be the full list, as one of the series’ new characters, Geras, doesn’t appear.

Interestingly enough, there are also several achievements that seem to hint at characters that are new to the series. Achievements with the letters “CET,” “KOL,” and “TER” also appear on the list, but those three don’t seem to reference any existing Mortal Kombat characters. Some have speculated that “TER” could reference the Terminator, which wouldn’t be too much of a stretch for MK11 seeing as past entries have included movie characters like the Alien, Jason Voorhees, Freddy Krueger, Leatherface, and the Predator.

Since the game’s initial reveal showed off Baraka, Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Skarlet, Geras, Sonya Blade and Raiden, NetherRealm have announced that Kano, Kabal and D’Vorah have also made the cut. Shao Kahn will also be a playable character for those who preorder the game.

We’re sure to get plenty of more character reveals in the coming months, so don’t give up hope if your main hasn’t popped up yet. Mortal Kombat 11 launches on April 23rd for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
