Mortal Kombat

A teaser poster that appeared on Reddit recently seems to be hinting at an imminent return for the Mortal Kombat franchise, and tweets from Ed Boon, co-creator of Mortal Kombat, suggest that an announcement is just days away.

The poster features the words “Who’s Next?” with the traditional Mortal Kombat logo, and an X-ray of a severely broken spine. Following this, NetherRealm Studios’ Ed Boon changed his Twitter profile picture to match the logo from the poster, and put the words “Who’s Next?,” in the same font as the poster, as his cover picture. This was followed by a Tweet that said: “Ahhh…. that fits better!”

Later he added: “I don’t suppose there’s anything I can do to make you think we still MIGHT be announcing Injustice 2 in #five days is there…..?”

Boon has been counting down to an announcement on June 2 with cryptic tweets over the last few weeks. Looks like we will finally be getting an official announcement regarding Mortal Kombat X next week then (unless we’re being severely trolled).
