Mortal Kombat Team Reveals “Injustice: Gods Among Us” DC Comics Game

NetherRealm Studios isn’t done with Superman and the DC Universe quite yet, as Warner Bros. has revealed Injustice: Gods Among Us, the Mortal Kombat developers’ new DC Comics fighting game. Fans will remember the last time the Justice League and other related DC staples appeared in a game like this, Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe, a guilty-pleasure sort of fan favorite that wasn’t exactly met with universal praise.
GameSpot has the official first exclusives as far as the teaser trailer, which shows Superman, Batman, The Flash, Wonder Woman, Solomon Grundy and Harley Quinn clashing in several brutal beatdowns. Comic book fans can guess that the title of the game is some kind of play off of the Injustice League, a team of main villains from each DC hero’s rogues gallery.
However, the “gods among us” part seems to clearly refer to the superpowered beings like Superman and Wonder Woman, so it might be an inversion, with some of the DC heroes not being on the side of good. Whatever the case is, the game will be releasing for the PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii U in 2013, so get ready to wait.
As a side note, did I just see Batman kick Solomon Grundy through a skyscraper? Does everyone in this game have super strength or what? Oh, well. Maybe the official website will eventually have some concrete answers (refresh it to see more of the roster).
