Move Over Twisted Metal, New PSN Title Wheels of Destruction is Here

THE BUZZ: Gelid Games is set to release Wheels of Destruction to the PlayStation Network soon, which is a brave move considering that another vehicular based combat game called Twisted Metal just released.
Based on the Unreal Engine, Wheels of Destruction features arcade-style fast paced combat. Along with futuristic cars, environments, lasers and over the top physics. The games uses a ”unique control scheme built around controlling the vehicle with a single analog stick,” according to the developer in order to ease control difficulties.
There is currently no set release date for the game.
EGM’s TAKE: It takes a lot of guts to release your arcade game around the same time as a major player in the same field. When it comes to vehicular based combat Twisted Metal has held the crown for many years. On the other hand it may also be a blessing to the developers as the genre will be fresh in peoples minds and excitement will be high, which may lead to people buying the game to extend their experiences. As a stand alone title it looks like great fun, we just hope that it doesn’t fall into Twisted Metal’s shadow.
