Murdered: Soul Suspect developer Airtight Games hit with layoffs

Posted on April 3, 2014 AT 01:35pm

Fourteen Airtight Games employees have been laid off just two months shy of Murdered: Soul Suspect’s release, studio president and creative director Jim Deal confirmed to IGN.

“We regret to confirm that we have laid off 14 staff members yesterday afternoon as part of a necessary restructuring,” Deal told IGN. “This restructuring is part of the normal ebb and flow of game production. Existing projects are on a schedule and Airtight Games is actively seeking partners for exciting upcoming projects.”

According to a Square Enix representative, the loss of these 14 people has not affected Murdered: Soul Suspect’s launch timeline.

Just yesterday, Amazon announced that they had hired Airtight’s Kim Swift, designer of Portal and Airtight’s project lead on Ouya-exclusive Soul Fjord.

Murdered: Soul Suspect hits PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One June 3 in North America, June 6 in Europe.
