It has been almost 2 years since Tales of Vesperia was released on the PlayStation 3 in Japan and there is still no sign of a Western release. Namco has been very quiet as to the reasons for this, until now.

Namco Bandai Europe’s Junior Community Manager, Charlotte Toci has made some interesting comments on her Facebook page about the PlayStation 3 version.

When asked by a fan if it would ever be coming to the West on Playstation 3 she replied;

“A lot of people have told us that, but it won’t happen.”

When pressed a little further she revealed;

“Microsoft paid for the [western] exclusivity, the
same way as Sony paid for having Heavy Rain only on PS3. It’s just one
way the business works, sadly.”

So sadly it would appear that Tales of Vesperia will never see a western release on the PlayStation 3.
