A job listing on Naughty Dog’s “Careers” page indicates that one of the company’s upcoming projects will feature co-op prominently.
The Game Designer (Co-op) listing calls for someone with three to five years of experience within the industry with experience developing third-person action games and a “strong understanding of co-op gameplay mechanics” and “level design and encounter design.”
Current speculation is that Uncharted 4 might include co-op in some form beyond the co-op scene in Uncharted 2 and 3, which was a shorter, separate game mode. Users on NeoGAF have pitched that a Last of Us sequel might make use of co-op, and while a follow-up hasn’t been announced, it’s clearly that director Neil Druckmann’s team at Naughty Dog must be starting work on something (something that seemingly isn’t a Crash Bandicoot reboot, since Activision maintains the rights to that IP).
Feel free to post your own speculation in the comments below, then join me in worship at the Alter of Misbehaving Canines to pray for a glimpse of Uncharted during Spike’s VGX awards this weekend.
