NBA 2K13 Features Jordan Vs. LeBron, ‘Dream Team’ Vs. ‘Green Team’

Every installment in 2K Sports’ critically acclaimed NBA 2K franchise tends to come with some kind of blockbuster announcement, and the newest game in the series already has another one. As announced by executive producer Jay-Z, NBA 2K13 will feature the 1992 USA Basketball Men’s National Team, better known to most fans as the “Dream Team”.
Along with the Dream Team, who celebrate the 20th anniversary of their legendary Olympic run this year, NBA 2K13 also stars the current 2012 USA roster, encouraging players to pit both teams against each other.
For basketball fans, this should be a huge deal, as many people have speculated whether the 1992 squad—made up of all-time great superstars like Michael Jordan, Karl Malone, Magic Johnson, Patrick Ewing, and Charles Barkley—could stand up to the best of the NBA’s upcoming and current top talent.
Curiously, Scottie Pippen of the Chicago Bulls isn’t part of the lineup, judging by the official press release.
In the 1992 Olympic Games, the Dream Team famously crushed all competitors from pillar to post, notching about 44 points on average over every other country. Not only did they win a gold medal in Barcelona, but the roster went down in history as the single greatest force to ever be assembled in any sport, a label that still holds true today.
But now, 2K Sports is smartly giving a nod to history, and every basketball fan can now simulate a match-up that frankly couldn’t happen any other way—the Dream Team vs. the Green Team.
