2K Games has confirmed that NBA 2K14 will be releasing on both current and next generation consoles, and also revealed Miami Heat player LeBron James as this year’s cover star.

The Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of the game will be available on October 1, according to the publisher. The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions will be available for both consoles at launch, 2K Sports Senior VP of Basketball Operations Jason Argent confirmed.

Argent also added that while the current and next-gen versions of NBA 2K14 will share features they will both be distinct products.

You can check out an announcement trailer below as well as a trailer for the “King James” pre-order DLC, which includes bonus content for the Path to Greatness mode, LeBron James’s Signature Skill, and 10,000 virtual currency.
