The cover athlete for the next season of 2K Games’ basketball simulator, NBA 2K17, will be the Indiana Pacers’ Paul George.
The shooting guard is excited to be featured on the cover, saying that he’s been a longtime fan of the series.
“I have been playing NBA 2K as long as I can remember, and to be honored as cover athlete of NBA 2K17 is a blessing and vote of confidence that my hard work on and off the court has paid off,” George said.
2K Sports’ process behind choosing Paul George was a natural one, according to Jason Argent, the label’s senior VP of basketball operations.
“I think he’s an amazing basketball player, and yes, he’s a superstar? He’s proven himself over and over and over again,” Argent told Fox Sports. “He’s a great pick. He’s a fan of the brand. He’s an amazing basketball player?one of the best. He’s a fan of ours, we’re a fan of him, so it was kind of a natural selection.”
NBA 2K17 won’t be George’s first time as a featured player in a 2K product. He was also on the cover of the MyNBA2K16 companion app.
2K Games also announced that NBA 2K17‘s Legend Edition will feature Kobe Bryant on the cover. The game is set to launch September 20th for PlayStation 4, Playstation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC.
