Need for Speed

Plot details of Dreamwork’s adaptation of the Need for Speed franchise for the big screen have appeared online. There’s also word that Dominic Cooper–appeared in Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter and Captain America: The First Avenger–has been approached to star in the film.

According to Variety, the film “follows an underground race car driver (Paul) who owns a garage that modifies expensive cars to make them faster for racing. Framed and sent to prison when his best friend is murdered during a race, he seeks revenge upon his release.”

Dreamwork’s acquired the rights to Need for Speed back in June and has fast tracked the film for a 2014 release. According to the company, the film will use a completely original story and is not based on any of the games.
