Neo-Geo X Handheld Will Sell Separately For $130, Still Seems Pricey

Ever-determined to revive a console hardly anyone bought, the Neo-Geo X “Gold” system pack will now be selling the handheld device as a standalone. And all it costs is 130 bones.
Purchasing the device will net buyers 20 Neo-Geo games pre-installed (according to the product page), mirroring the same deal that you would get in the $199 set that includes the HDTV-compatible Neo-Geo and joystick.
Here’s the specs on the smaller Neo-Geo system, as reported by Inside Games:
- Linux OS
- 480 x 272 resolution
- 128MB DDR2 RAM
- SD card support (1GB to 8GB)
- Six-hour battery life
Of course, this is definitely a collector’s item, especially at such a high price.
For more tech-saavy gamers, it’s actually not too difficult to get Neo-Geo games on a mobile device or console-like PC build through alternative (and less than legal) means. Naturally, we don’t endorse that practice.
