Anthem

A new Anthem trailer shows fans a world full of dangers, and Bioware developers followed up the trailer by breaking down plenty of new information on the game.

Anthem‘s massive and dense world was “left unfinished by the gods”, and the technology they left behind has to be harvested by the humans attempting to survive the hostile landscape. All players will occupy the same world, with a universal day/night cycle constantly changing the community’s experience.

To brave the violent storms, giant monsters, and other threats of this world, humans will don customizable Javelin suits, giving them a slew of powerful defenses and abilities. These suits will be split into four classes—Interceptor, Storm, Colossus, and Ranger—and each will be specialized to perform unique roles in the 4-player squad, such as the Colossus being built to tank and defend teammates from damage, or the Ranger being a balanced, all-around damage dealer. When it’s time to wrap up a mission, players will return to their Strider, which is a giant walker located in the open world.

These suits can be seen in action in the game’s new cinematic trailer below, demonstrating how the freelancers can work together to survive. This cooperation is important, as the developers expressed that the single-player will be more difficult than co-op play.

Anthem finally has a release date, slated to launch February 22nd, 2019, on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Those with Origin Access Premier will get full access to the game on February 15th. Preordering the game will earn players VIP demo access and a unique in-game Founders banner, in addition to other bonus content.

Bioware has confirmed that the game will have no loot boxes, or the option to pay for power, with direct purchase options only including cosmetics. Bioware also confirmed that the game will launch with a full, complete single-player story, but the overall story of the experience will be expanded upon for years to come.
