New Batch of Shinobido 2 Screenshots Sneak Out

Posted on November 22, 2011 AT 03:03pm

THE BUZZ: As part of the big release of media surrounding their upcoming launch-day PlayStation Vita titles, Namco Bandai has also let loose a batch of screenshots and character art for their stealth-driven ninja action title Shinobido 2: Revenge of Zen.

EGM’s TAKE: I’m going to be honest here—I don’t know much about Shinobido 2 itself. In the flood of games coming to the Vita, there’s a lot to take in, and Namco Bandai themselves are releasing three games right at the hardware’s launch—two of which are Touch My Katamari and Ridge Racer, major new chapters of big-name franchises.

But you know what? That’s okay, because that means—for me—Shinobido 2 has the chance to be a nice, unexpected surprise. The last time I really got into a game like this was some of the Tenchu titles on the PS2—and Shinobido 2 is coming from Kazuhiro Watanabe and the staff at Acquire, the folks responsible for that very Tenchu series.

Watanabe has promised that Shinobido 2 will bring some interesting ideas to the genre via the “Harakiri Engine”, where the choices that players make and the missions they take on can effect how the rest of the game plays out. So, with all of the titles I’m already sure to be giving a go when the Vita hits, Shinobido 2 will be totally fresh for me—and that’s something that’s nice to have sometimes.
