The latest trailer for Call of Duty: Ghosts sets up for the first narrative chapter of the new Extinction mode, “Nightfall,” included with the upcoming Onslaught DLC.
The basic gist of the trailer, which you can watch below, is that before the nuke was set off in Colorado (the Extinction Mode map shipped with the game), scientists from something called the Nightfall Program came in, removed samples of the alien menace, and brought it to a remote facility in the Alaskan wilderness. When the scientists—surprise—lose control, a small team of elite soldiers (the players) must exterminate hordes of creatures, including a new, giant, mantis-like monstrosity.
Extinction Mode is easily one of the most enjoyable co-op modes Call of Duty has introduced in quite some time, so more maps forwarding an underlying narrative sounds pretty good to me.
Call of Duty: Ghosts – Onslaught will be available on Xbox One and Xbox 360 on January 28 and will launch on PC, PS4, and PS3 shortly after.
