A new batch of screenshots for Dead Space 3 feature an enemy known as the Feeder, created when a human eats the corrupted flesh of a dead Necromorph.

The screens come via Game Informer and feature the old colonists of Tau Volantis, who were isolated for so long that they took to eating the dead Necromorphs and slowly transformed into Feeders. The Feeders inhabit the Way Station and are hurt by bright lights as a result of being trapped underground for so long, they navigate via sound and attack in waves.
