New Details Announced for New Super Mario Bros. U

With less than three weeks until the release of the Wii U, new information is coming out about the system’s highest profile release, New Super Mario Bros. U.

In a throwback to Super Mario Bros. 3 andSuper Mario World, the game will feature an actual seemless world map, packed with secrets, hidden paths and the occasional trigger to change the landscape. Still separated into worlds, the map works to unify the game’s many levels into a more cohesive package.

The game will also include various challenge modes, both in single-player and multiplayer flavors.

Single-player challenges fall into four categories: Time Attack, Coin Collection, 1-up Rally and Special, the latter containing random miscelaneous challenges. Two players can work together in Boost Mode Challenges, with one player using the Wii U GamePad and the other a standard Wii remote.

If these challenges aren’t social enough for you, up to five players can compete in Coin Battles, with one player using the GamePad to lay down boost blocks while the other four fight to grab as many coins as possible. Players can edit the number and layout of the coins on Coin Battle maps, and even save their favorites for future play.

It looks like there will be plenty of action to keep players going when New Super Mario Bros. U releases on November 18, the same day as the Wii U.

Marc Camronhas a new obsession: Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch. It has sucked me in like few games have before (the original Final Fantasy Tactics comes to mind). I must acquire all of the familiars, craft every item and win every arena battle! I'm looking for a 12 step program, but I'm having difficulty finding one that will accept me. If you can help please e-mail.
