DICE will be showing off more of their upcoming Battlefield 3 at E3 next week, and they’ve given a sneak peek at what we can expect – a peek which includes details about some of the game’s new features and offerings.
The demo running at E3 will take place on the multiplayer map “Operation Mtro”, which will mix some of the new close-quarter combat that Battlefield 3 will feature along with new tactical options. Players will be able to “temporarily disable vehicles, go prone, mount weapons, lay down suppressive fire and more.”
Not everything will be shown at E3, however. Absent from the show will be the game’s co-op campaign, which is said to be extensive, and the introduction of the new Team Death Match mode.
Also poised to be a big part of Battlefield 3 will be the “Battlelog”, an online web destination that will provide “powerful” social tools, feeds, and detailed player stats. The site will also allow for managing friends lists, squading up, creating platoons, accessing voice chat, and following friends’ progress in real time.
There’s also one humorous part of the announcement of Battlelog – the mention that it will be provides for the “monthly fee of… zero dollars.” A small dig, no doubt, at Call of Duty Elite.
