New Dev Diary for The Bureau Explores 2K Marin’s Approach to the Art Direction

Posted on August 8, 2013 AT 11:55am

2K Marin’s second developer diary for their upcoming tactical-strategy shooter The Bureau details the studio’s approach to art design for the game.

In the video, various members of the dev team—including creative director Morgan Gray and art director Jeff Weir—discuss some of the changes that The Bureau underwent in terms of art design from when it started life as the XCOM shooter to when it transitioned into a third-person, cover-based tactical-strategy shooter.

“The game went through a big art direction shit, going from 2010 to 2012. Mainly because the game itself was changing,” art director Jeff Weir says in the video. “As we shifted from this investigative game into something that was a little bit more direct conflict, we needed something that felt a little bit more darker and grimmer.”

The Bureau: XCOM Declassified invades PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 August 20 in North America, August 23 in Europe.
