Devil May Cry 5 and Soul Calibur VI be two of the major titles announced at the upcoming PlayStation Experience 2017, according to a Reddit poster claiming to have inside information.
PSX is Sony’s yearly independent press show during which the publisher steals the limelight for a weekend by showing off a small but impactful number of games and projects fans can look forward to. Two of the games Sony will drop on us this year are purportedly Devil May Cry 5 and Soul Calibur VI, according to a purported from Reddit user DasVergeben.
DasVergeben claims to have contacts and information on a variety of gaming companies, offering as proof of their reliability a recent GameFAQs post in which they accurately leaked the latest Injustice 2 DLC characters. In a more recent post, the leaker talks a lot about the future of games like Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition and Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite—as well as some interesting details about what Nintendo has in store—but their most noteworthy tease is about two yet-to-be-announced games.
DasVergeben doesn’t have much to say on Devil May Cry 5, except that it will be revealed at PSX 2017 and that Dante, Vergil, and Nero will all be playable. As for Soul Calibur VI, there are a few more details on offer aside from its expected PSX reveal. The fighter will allegedly launch for the PS4, PC, and Nintendo Switch, with no Xbox One version mentioned. The Switch version may be announced separate from the others, with Link returning as a special guest character exclusive to that version.
The game was apparently intended to be revealed last year in honor of the series’ 20th anniversary, but it was in “a mini development hell of sorts” caused by technical issues surrounding a moveset switching system that allows characters to use multiple movesets. Returning features will purportedly include the Kilik character with his staff moveset, Super abilities, and a “universal mechanic like V-Triggers.”
The PlayStation Experience 2017 will be held December 9th and 10th at the Anaheim Convention Center. PlayStation might have undercut itself by dropping some of its biggest reveals at the recent Paris Games Week, including new content from The Last of Us Part II and God of War, but hopefully PSX still has some impressive things in store. If this leak is indeed the real deal, it certainly seems like we might get a few big surprises.
