Final Fantasy

Final Fantasy XV‘s Cup Noodle product placement has already been taken to ridiculous extremes, with a parody trailer inserting giant Nissin Cup Noodles into dramatic scenes and, most recently, a gigantic “Ultima Weapon Fork” that players could win in real life. Now, the marketing’s been pushed to a new zenith: Cup Noodle Hat DLC.

The reveal comes from Nissin Cup Noodles’ official website (warning: it’s all in Japanese). The DLC ties in with an ongoing Final Fantasy promotion the company is running, where various Final Fantasy bosses are printed on the side of the cups. If that sounds familiar, that’s because this is actually the same promotion as the “Ultima Weapon Fork” lottery that’s been going on for the past few weeks.

Now, players who buy the specially-designed Cup Noodles will get a DLC code that unlocks a Cup Noodle hat for Noctis (and, since the “Ultima Weapon Fork” lottery is still going on, players will also get another shot at the lottery). This means that the DLC costs, essentially, the price of the Cup Noodles, or 6,048 yen. At roughly 52 US dollars, that’s pretty pricy, but it does get you the entire collection of boss-themed Cups.

So far, there’s no word on whether or not the DLC will be headed to the West.
