THE BUZZ: First, let’s get the obvious out of the way—no, that title isn’t a mistake. Gun Lord—a “Eurostyle platformer” as the game is explained—is an upcoming project from NG:DEV.TEAM, a team of game developers who decided to make the most hardcore of console choices possible. Steam? Xbox Indies? Homebrew for DS? Pshaw—that’s kid’s stuff. Dreamcast and Neo Geo? That’s where the true gamers are still at!

Gun Lord will feature “9 stages of exciting 2D game play with over 45 unique enemy types.” The game obviously takes more than a few cues from Turrican, but hey—if you’re going to pay homage to a particular gaming genre, do so by honoring its better offerings.

EGM’s TAKE: As I still own both a Dreamcast and a home Neo Geo console, I love that we live in a world where games can—and do—still come out for them.
