God of War: Ascension director Todd Papy has been busy on Twitter lately, answering questions and giving details on the further adventures of Kratos. Here’s some of what he had to say.
When asked how Ascension’s multiplayer will look compared to single player from a technical standpoint: “MP is using assets from SP, from there we tweak it to make it runs at the frame rate we want. MP will look very very good!!!”
When asked if Ascension will be more like God of War 3 (with “awesome boss battles”), or more like God of War 1 and 2 (“more puzzle-based”): “I’m not going to answer any ?s about SP right now. But I will tell you there will be boss fights and there will be puzzles”
When asked if Polyphemus will be in single player, or just multiplayer: “Just MP. We are looking to offline, but I can’t promise anything yet”
When asked if Ascension’s multiplayer will only be competitive, or if there were also be co-op: “It is competitive. We are still working out what co-op things we can do to our standards.”
When asked if things like skin tone can be adjusted in multiplayer: “We are doing different skin tones. We will be doing tattoos/body paint later.”
When asked if games like Asura’s Wrath from Capcom had any influence on Ascension: “Nope. We are self motivated, but we do check out what other teams are doing.”
When asked about potential gameplay length for Ascension: “It will be around GOW1. We focus on quality not quantity. We would rather have an awesome 5/10hr than a ok 30hr game.”
When asked about the mention of giving players more camera control in Ascension: “We have added a nudge ability to the camera. It isn’t complete control but allows player to see more of the environment.”
