New Harvest Moon Coming to Nintendo 3DS in Japan Next February

Posted on October 9, 2013 AT 11:42am

A new Harvest Moon title is coming to Nintendo 3DS in Japan next February, series producer Yoshifumi Hashimoto revealed in an interview with Famitsu magazine.

Despite series creator Yasuhiro Wada splitting off to make Harvest Moon successor Hometown Story, the Harvest moon franchise will continue with Bokujo Monogatari: Tsunagari Shintenchi, which translates to something like “Connecting New Lands” (translation courtesy of Polygon). The new game will be the first new Harvest Moon released in two years, and will place a strong emphasis on social connections by using StreetPass and Wi-Fi functionality.

“You’re able to purchase unique goods from the world’s nations, as we ll as send products out to them,” Hashimoto told Famitsu. “At the start you can only trade with one nation, but as you ship more product, you’ll gain access to more and more countries. Each nation will react to your goods differently depending on their preferences, with some enjoying them but others giving more of a neutral reaction.”

According to Hashimoto, the new Harvest Moon will also feature a “Safari” zone that players can populated with animals, something that the new HM will have twice as much of than its predecessors.

Release outside of Japan has yet to be confirmed, but seems exceedingly likely given the franchise’s history.
