The recent announcement by Gun Media that they were suspending future content in Friday the 13th: The Game due to certain claims being brought by writer Victor Miller was met with understandable disappointment by fans of the game and the franchise alike. It also prompted a lot of false, misleading and speculative information that is now being bandied about on social media in reaction to the announcement. Here are some of the facts that EGMNOW has recently discovered in its reporting on this matter to help set the record straight:
– Victor Miller has been paid hundreds of thousands of dollars for his work on the original Friday the 13th script, and he continues to receive payments to date.
– Miller did not create the Jason character we know today — the adult killer who wears a hockey mask. That character emerged in a sequel which Miller was not involved with in any way.
– A year ago, Sean Cunningham reached out directly to Miller to discuss settlement. Miller responded by refusing to talk to Sean.
If Miller decides to change his previous position and meet with Cunningham could it mean getting the additional Friday the 13th: The Game content back on track? Time, as always, will tell.
EGMNOW will continue to bring you the latest updates in the Friday the 13th case as they develop.
