The latest NHL 15 trailer from EA Sports highlights the game’s 30 re-designed arenas to help give players a true home ice advantage this year.
The trailer shows several arenas specifically, including the Bell Centre in Montreal and its dozens of banners aligning the ceiling, Joe Louis arena’s wear and tear in Detroit, and, for the first time ever, my New York Rangers’ Madison Square Garden.
For years up, MSG had always been the generic “New York Arena.” I assumed it was a licensing issue caused by one of the worst owners in sports, James Dolan, but whatever the reason, I admit it is great to see MSG’s own iconic ceiling finally digitized.
Aside from the arenas themselves, the trailer also focuses on the fans. There are now 9,000 different fan models in each arena, including each place’s “super-fan,” as well as lone fans from opposing teams who travel to offer pockets of support for their boys on the road.
NHL 15 launches September 9 on PS4, Xbox One, PS3, and Xbox 360, but if you can’t wait, a demo on Xbox One and PS4 is available for download now.
