Overwatch fans can learn the origins of the relationship between Junkrat and Roadhog from the new digital comic, Wasted Lands.

The comic—available as a digital download or as a motion comic by Madefire—starts out with Roadhog minding his business in the post–Omnic Crisis Australian Outback before being rudely disturbed by a couple of Scavengers. The cover and opening page of the comic were teased prior to its full release, but now fans get to see how Roadhog’s story continues.

In contrast to his normal disposition, Roadhog lets them live, setting out for Junkertown the next day to pick up supplies. After running some errands in a town whose Queen is not Roadhog’s biggest fan, he stops by a bar for a drink. As it turns out, Roadhog’s soon-to-be partner in crime is in the bar, getting himself into trouble with the locals. It doesn’t take much grief from these locals to get Roadhog cracking skulls, and after saving Junkrat, the duo go off together to hunt down a priceless treasure.

The scrap-heap town in which the two characters meet is the setting of Overwatch‘s newest Escort map, announced at last month’s Gamescom. The map is currently playable on the game’s public test region, and is expected to land in the full game soon.

The previous Overwatch comic highlighted the shooter’s newest hero, Doomfist, detailing his transition back into his Talon organization after escaping from jail.
