THE BUZZ: In addition to taking Rayman back to his roots, the upcoming Rayman Origins adds in a whole new level of attacks, as this new trailer will attest.

Where the original Rayman only featured a couple of offensive moves, Rayman Origins ups the ante with a cournacopia of different moves and combos. When asked about the new moves, Game Director Sebastien Morin explained, “we came up with different moves for different skills. Begin with little punch, learn to kick in the air, and when you’re good enough just sprint your way spinning and taking out the bad guys. Additionally, we accidentally (not really) discovered that slapping your friends was even more fun. So the set of attack moves just grew dramatically with all those new and creative ways to annoy your friends.”

Additionally, Morin confirmed that different characters will have different attacks, just to keep things interesting.

EGM’s TAKE: Sure, we’re excited for Battlefield 3 and Modern Warfare 3 and Uncharted 3, etc. etc. etc. But there is something about Rayman Origins that appeals to us at a more basic level. Games like this reminds us of the pure wacky fun that got us gaming in the first place.
