THE BUZZ: Namco Bandai today released a slew of screenshots, videos, and box art for the upcoming North American release of Ridge Racer for Vita—and we’ve got them all!
When the Vita launches in North America next February, one of the key launch titles for the hardware will be Ridge Racer—because, really, it isn’t new Sony hardware without a new chapter of this franchise. For the Vita version, the game will bring in some new elements, such as the “Machine Upgrade Map” for heavy car customization, and the Planetary League, where players can join up with one of four racing teams to race against players from other teams both locally and globally.
EGM’s TAKE: Look, I dearly love the Ridge Racer series Namco Bandai, but come on—we have to do something about the naming scheme. You have the original “Ridge Racer”, you have a completely different game called “Ridge Racer” for the PSP, and now you’ve used the generic “Ridge Racer” name yet again for this new Vita release! It’s so easy to be confused about which game somebody is talking about!
Other than my obsessive fretting over the game’s name, I’m quite excited for Ridge Racer (Vita). It will absolutely be one of the games I pick up at the handheld’s launch.
