THE BUZZ: Crytek has released a new batch of screenshots for its free-to-play FPS Warface, which is due to release this year.
EGM’s TAKE: The game will be developed using the CryEngine 3 and will contain a constantly evolving environment, ”full of dramatic multiplayer co-op missions,” and, “a full set of class-based PVP.” The game will first release in Asia to allow Crytek time to get to grips with the business model before bringing it to worldwide audiences. In terms of quality, the game looks amazing for a free-to-play title and, as Crytek hopes, should spark a move into the next generation of free games that are on par with AAA releases. A game like this would be perfect for consoles and would probably open up new revenue streams for developers, but until Sony and Microsoft can come to some arrangement with micro-transactions don’t expect these titles to leave their PC homes.
