New Square Enix President Giving the Company a Good Hard Look

Posted on April 3, 2013 AT 10:45am

Taking over after Yoicha Wada’s recent resignation, new Square Enix president Yosuke Matsuda intends to reexamine every aspect of the company.

As translated by Siliconera, Matsuda stated the following while speaking to investors:

“After having succeeded the important role as the president, I plan on reviewing all Square Enix duties, business, and assets on a zero-based budgeting standpoint,” Matsuda told investors. “Due to the radical change of environment, I’d like to fundamentally review what works and what doesn’t work for our company, then cast all of our researches towards extending what makes us successful and thoroughly squeezing out what doesn’t.”

Matsuda also declared that Square Enix Europe CEO Phil Rogers will be the new director of Square Enix Holdings. Rogers will be assisting Matsuda in his restructuring efforts.
