New The Last Of Us PAX 2012 Demo Runs Through 15 Minutes In Pittsburgh

Posted on September 5, 2012 AT 02:25pm

Sony and Naughty Dog have released footage of the latest gameplay trailer for The Last of Us, previously seen at PAX Prime 2012. Expanding on what was shown previously at E3 2012, there’s a lot more to chew on here.

Here’s a quick breakdown of the new notable sequences that you’ll see in this 15-minute video:

  • 0:55 — Joel and Ellie have an extended talk about a movie poster, showing the level of scripted dialogue that goes into exploring the enviroments.
  • 2:48 — Some slight puzzle solving elements are featured, with Joel finding ways to get Ellie up to higher terrain in order to get tools like a nearby ladder.
  • 6:10 — Rather than going around the Infected enemies, Joel distracts one of them with a thrown object, taking a more stealthy route through that floor than in the E3 demo.

There’s also quite a bit of combat highlighted later in demo, with special attention being paid to how enemies can use Joel and Ellie’s hide-and-seek tactics against them.

It’s interesting to note how Naughty Dog has been able to adjust enemy A.I. to react uniquely to every tactic that you try in a fight, especially in the non-scripted confrontations. Check out the full video below.
