New The Last Of Us Trailer Gets Pretty Tense, Introduces New Character
Posted on July 14, 2012 AT 05:06pm
It appears that Joel and Ellie aren’t quite as alone as they think in Naughty Dog’s zombie apocalyptic game The Last of Us, as a new trailer showcases a grizzled new character who doesn’t take kindly to trespassers.
Interestingly enough, newcomer “Bill” has some sort of history with Joel, and even though it’s not explicitly spelled out, it’s clear that he owes him some sort of life debt. That’s good for Joel and Ellie, since after a brief scuffle, the duo asks for Bill’s help rebuilding a car from working parts scattered around the city.
Although it’s a small piece of character interaction, this is a solid moment of dialogue and scripting, showing how even the non-Infected characters initially keep each other at arms’ length.
Check out the footage below to get acquainted with Bill, although there’s sadly no combat or action scenes past a slick ambush move by Ellie. About the only question left is whether Bill follows along as an NPC much like Ellie does, or if the hard-nosed mechanic serves a completely different role altogether.
