The latest installment of Thief’s Stories from The City videos introduces Thief Taker General Daniel Day-Lewis, a man who has abandoned his acting career to rid the world of thieves.

OK, OK, so the character model simply bears a striking similarity to Daniel Day-Lewis in Gangs of New York, complete with massive, stroke-worthy handlebar mustache. Clearly it isn’t Day-Lewis himself—there’s far too much overacting going on with that voice work. I’m not entirely sure what the point of this video series is beyond a headline bump for Thief, since it doesn’t really do much to inform you, the reader, about the game, but rather its lore, and only in a really obtuse way that means nothing from the outside looking in.

Talking to Josh, who has had several hands-on sessions with the Thief reboot, I’m to understand that the unfortunately named Thief Taker General is a persistent antagonist, the Wile E. Coyote to Garrett’s Road Runner.

Thief launches on Windows PC, PS4, Xbox One, PS3, and Xbox 360 in two weeks, on February 25 in North America and February 28 in Europe.

New Thief video introduces Thief Taker General, probably not Garrett’s besty
