Space exploration meets the toys-to-life genre in the new Starlink: Battle for Atlas, announced onstage during Ubisoft’s E3 2017 press briefing.

The Atlas Star System is an expansive corner of the universe, rich with interstellar exploration opportunities. Players will have their own spaceships with which to explore the network of planets and fight off any hostile life living there, as well as the evil forces of a warlord named Grax.

When the ship’s base model isn’t enough, players can swap out ship parts on a physical model of the ship connected to the controller. Augments available for ships include weapons, wings, pilots, and more, which alters the ship on the fly to meet specific challenges.

It seems very likely that Starlink is the sci-fi game teased in last year’s Watch Dogs 2. While there is no confirmation of this, and the teased project was reported to have a different name, it would be surprising if Ubisoft was working on two similarly-looking space-exploration games in tandem with each other.

Starlink: Battle for Atlas is slated to launch sometime in fall 2018, coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and the Nintendo Switch.
