Developer Fatshark has unveiled a new trailer for their upcoming action game set during the Viking Age in 9th- and 10th-century England. Titled “Progression,” the video focuses on the upgrades players will receive as they take control of either the invading Norsemen or the defending Saxons (who themselves invaded and settled England in the 5th century, taking advantage of the post-Roman power vacuum).
War of the Vikings is the Sweden-based developer’s follow-up to War of the Roses, a 2012 release that revolved around the 15th-century battle for England’s crown. War of the Vikings figures to take its warfare to a more primal state, given the earlier time period, the warrior mentality of these indomitable factions, and the raging, frenzied Viking combat that came to be defined by the enigmatic Berserker. The game, which is being published by Paradox Interactive, is currently available on Steam Early Access and is scheduled for a March release on PC.
