New Xbox 360 Dashboard Reduces Video Playback Quality

THE BUZZ: According to reports the recent Xbox 360 Dashboard update has reduced the quality of video playback on the system.
The issue was flagged up a number of times during the beta testing of the dashboard, however Microsoft reportedly deleted all of the threads regarding it and issued the following message:
“Thanks for the feedback! Though we will not be able to incorporate your feedback into this release we will save it for consideration in future releases. Thanks for using the new Xbox Update and please keep up the feedback!”
Digital Factory conducted an investigation into the complaints and discovered that the new dashboard forces video content to run at a limited range of RGB levels, causing colors to appear washed out.
EGM’s TAKE: The major issue here isn’t the fact that this occurring, but the fact that Microsoft knew of its existence yet refused to fix, or even acknowledge it. With the emphasis on becoming a TV and Movie powerhouse, stepping back the video quality is a serious problem, and one we hope Microsoft fixes soon.
