Nintendo has announced a brand new Zelda game for Nintendo 3DS set in the same world as A Link to the Past, but it’s not a remake.

This new game, which doesn’t have a subtitle at the moment, will return to the top-down 2D environments that fans know and love. It features a new mechanic that sees Link turn into a hand-drawn 2D version of himself which allows him to move along walls and slip through narrow gaps.

No official date was given for this game, but it is penciled for a Holiday 2013 release.
