Next Adventure Time Game Goes Diablo [Updated with 100% More Trailer]

The next Adventure Time game—Explore the Dungeon Because I DON’T KNOW!—is going the Diablo-style action-adventure dungeon crawler route, Polygon reports.

“Where the first game was strictly a side-scrolling adventure game with a top-down mini-map, kind of like a Zelda 2, this is more of a top-down three-quarter perspective Diablo/Gauntlet-style game,” producer Aaron Blean told Polygon. “But instead of having this super hardcore 100-hour RPG where you have to min-max everything, we just wanted it to be fun. We also wanted it to have enough meat there so if you were that type of gamer, you could still play it and have the fun you want.”

The last Adventure Time game, Hey Ice King! WHy’d You Steal Our Garbage!?, was a 2D side-scrolling platformer wish a dash of RPG elements.

The new game is set in a secret dungeon beneath the Candy Kingdom, and will allow players to play a variety of Adventure Time mainstays, including Finn and Jake, Marceline, Cinnamon Bun, and more characters to be revealed at a later date. Explore the Dungeon boasts over 100 dungeons to explore and features four-player co-op.

Adventure Time: Explore the Dungeon Because I DON’T KNOW! launches on Xbox 360, PS3, Wii U, PC, and 3DS this fall.
