Mass Effect

The next Mass Effect is still a completely separate game to the original trilogy, according to BioWare Edmonton and Montreal boss Aaryn Flynn, but he promised that it will “give a bunch of nods” to it.

When asked about how the story will transition from the trilogy to the next title, Flynn told Game Trailers that the team has a “really cool idea” for how things are going to carry on.

“I can’t get into that too much. We’ve got a really cool idea for how we’re going to carry on – keep the trilogy separate but at the same time give a bunch of nods to fans who enjoyed the trilogy in the past,” he said. “That’s all going to come out soon.”

BioWare has already stated that Commander Shepard and his/her companions will not appear in the game, but several races from the trilogy are likely to make an appearance. “Hmm,” Flynn said when asked about the returning characters. “Definitely returning races. It wouldn’t be a Mass Effect game without the krogans – we showed a krogan today.”

During EA’s E3 press conference BioWare showed off some conceptual footage for the next Mass Effect. You can check it out here.
