Next Professor Layton Game For Nintendo 3DS Will Be Layton’s Last Case
Posted on August 29, 2012 AT 11:14am
After a long and successful stretch, the Professor Layton series may finally wind down to an end with its next game for the Nintendo 3DS. At the very least, the game’s main character isn’t returning, making this his final case.
Developer Level-5 CEO Akihiro Hino made the announcement last night on a Nintendo Direct presentation, saying that the next 3DS Layton would be Professor Layton Choubunmei to A no Isan.
Level-5 has actually done this before, with the intention of making Unwound Future the last Professor Layton title, so don’t expect this to be the last game in the series, either.
Nintendo and Level-5 also have a couple more Professor Layton titles in the line-up, so you’re still getting three of them before Layton’s retirement. Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask is still 3DS bound, as is Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney, which will also debut on the Nintendo 3DS before the year is out.
