In the first of three gameplay dev diaries for NHL 14, EA explores the title’s improved hit detection and collision physics.
If Blades of Steel taught me anything, it’s that the most important part of hockey is checking other players and getting into fistfights. Seems EA wants to ramp that up by adding Fifa’s player impact engine to ramp up the collisions physics in NHL 14.
In the video, producer Sean Ramjagsingh discusses how the new engine gauges the players’ size, momentum, and body position to produce more realistic hits. According to Ramjagsingh, NHL 14 also boasts better hit targeting.
