NHL 15 is coming to PS4, Xbox One, PS3, and Xbox 360 this fall, with the cover athlete quarter finals voting kicking off today, Electronic Arts announced.
Expectedly, EA Canada’s latest entry in the NHL franchise will bring with it several new features and improvements, chief among them—as highlighted on the game’s official website—a new collisions physics system that governs all aspects of every player on the ice are influenced by physics, more realistic puck physics, more detailed character models by way of separate body, equipment, and jersey layers, and finally a change up to the commentary team. NBC Sports’ Mike ‘Doc’ Emrick and Eddie Olczyk replace Gary Thorne and Bill Clement, who’ve handled NHL commentary since 2006’s NHL 07.
Eight players are vying for this year’s coveted cover athlete spot: Erik Karlsson of the Ottawa Senators, Logan Couture of the San Jose Sharks, T.J. Oshie of the St. Louis Blues, P.K. Subban of the Montreal Canadiens, Drew Doughty of the Los Angeles Kings, Phil Kessel of the Toronto Maple Leafs, Matt Duchene of the Colorado Avalanche, and Patrice Bergeron of the Boston Bruins.
The quarter finals will last from today through May 18. Semi-finals start the next day on May 19 and last through May 25, and the finals will be held on May 26 and June 1. Players can vote at NHL.com or on Twitter and Instagram by using assigned player hashtags.
EA did not provide a hard release window, but the NHL games traditionally release in the first half of September.
